Mansfield College, Oxford, has recently submitted a planning application for its Estate Transformation Project — a major investment in the College’s site, including new student accommodation (174 bedrooms), upgraded academic and social spaces, improved accessibility, landscape improvements (including a pocket park), a new Porters’ Lodge, and better permeability across the site.

For Stories, this is a big milestone: we’ve been supporting Mansfield for the last three years — helping to shape an evidence-led estate strategy, bring the brief into focus, assemble the right team, and then work alongside the College and design team through optioneering, consultation and the journey to a planning submission.
As Helen Mountfield KC (Principal) puts it:
“This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to secure Mansfield’s future for generations to come… We want to ensure we can offer more of our students an inspiring, sustainable and inclusive place to live and learn – while contributing positively to Oxford.”
Below is an interview with our very own Phyllis Agbo, explaining how we have been working with Mansfield and detailing her experience as our day to day lead on the project.
