Duchy of Cornwall Estate, Kennington
Stories is working with the Duchy of Cornwall to shape the next chapter of its historic estate in Kennington, south London. We are helping the Duchy steward this 700 year old estate for the long term, balancing development and social value with the character and heritage that make Kennington distinctive.
A key focus of Stories’ work is the development of 55 Kennington Oval, the former Archbishop Tenison’s School site overlooking the Kia Oval. Stories is providing end-to-end development management of 55 Kennington Oval on behalf of the Duchy – from early feasibility and options testing through to planning strategy, team procurement, design coordination and delivery oversight. Our brief is to help unlock the site in a way that:
creates high-quality, sustainable buildings and public realm
delivers meaningful social and community impact
supports a mix of uses appropriate to the area
reflects the Duchy’s long-term stewardship approach
Across Kennington, Stories is working collaboratively with the Duchy, local partners and the community to ensure that investment in the estate strengthens its social fabric, responds to local needs and contributes to a low-carbon future. The ambition is not just to deliver individual projects, but to leave a coherent, enduring neighbourhood legacy for this part of London.
