Hi, I'm Zoe
My love of interior design and the built environment started when I was just eight years old and decided my beautiful, traditional Victorian dolls house needed a renovation, open-plan, of course. My dad, an architect, looked horrified. He told me he'd only allow it if I drew up a detailed plan and worked out whether the building would still stand. I think he forgot I'd already lived through two full-blown home renovations and spent countless hours watching him sketch.
With a ‘plan’ in place and a reluctant nod of approval, out came the wall, up came the carpet, and the landing was painted fuchsia pink. The once-beautiful dolls house was, arguably, ruined forever. It still lives in my parents’ loft - probably waiting for the day I finally restore it.
But the passion didn’t go away. Growing up, moving house and chasing the next project became a regular event. I'd create mood boards for each move, and being ‘dragged’ round tile shops and bathroom showrooms became my idea of a good weekend. Interior design coffee table books appeared on every Christmas list and to this day, I still love getting the call from my dad asking me to weigh in on his latest schemes for clients. That curiosity - peeking into how people live, how they use their space, and how it could be improved - only grew stronger.
Naturally, that led me into the world of Estate Agency. I started as a sales assistant, worked my way through to negotiator and eventually became an office manager. Somewhere along the way, I realised I loved looking after the people around me and the space we worked in just as much as I loved being nosey. With the latter skill mastered, I discovered I had a knack for organising people - and I thrive when I’m helping others. Whether it’s keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes, bringing people together, or making sure they’re fed, watered, and vaguely sane between back-to-back appointments - I’m in my element.
In 2022, I joined Related Argent as an assistant for the Infrastructure and Public Realm team, and within 18 months moved into Marketing, Events and Internal Comms. I also led the company’s Wellbeing and DEI programme, delivering a wide range of events and initiatives that supported colleagues’ mental and physical health - often working alongside charity partners. A particular passion of mine became supporting men’s mental health and exploring how sport can be a powerful tool for starting meaningful conversations.
Day to day, I worked on some brilliant projects across King’s Cross and Brent Cross Town - but it was the community events at Brent Cross that opened my eyes to something bigger: that property development is about far more than bricks and mortar. I’m a big believer that the built environment should drive positive change for everyone. So, when the opportunity came up to join Stories - to work with people who share those values, that passion, and a people-first approach - I couldn’t let it pass me by.
When I’m not working (or pretending I know how to keep the office plants alive), you’ll usually find me hunting down something delicious to eat, enjoying a glass of vino, standing on the side lines of some sort of sport, or awkwardly smiling at every dog that walks past - if I’m doing all of the above at once, then I’m in my happy place. Failing that, I’m probably booking my next holiday!
